Ashley Gieseking, of FK Studio, commissioned a partnership with Spot to produce a portfolio piece inspired by her favorite french pastry chef, Simone Faure of Chouquette. The project, highlighting Simone’s designer macarons, was shot on the Red Scarlet and Canon 5D MKIII in FK’s daylight studio. Ashley directed, produced and edited the piece, along with Simone serving as talent. The Spot team included Lynn Hensel as DP, Tim Snider & Tim Kimberling completing editing and color, Jason Poole providing motion design, and Sandy Mendelson crafting sound design. Special thanks to Jonathan Miller, second camera; Jim Langley, lighting; Hilary Clements, art direction and Gillian Hills, music.
It is difficult to watch this video and not become very hungry for those delicious macarons. And yes, we are sure that is spelled correctly. Macaron = sweet meringue-based confection made with eggs, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. Macaroon = a drop cookie made of egg whites, sugar, usually almond paste or coconut, and sometimes a little flour. No matter how you spell it, these cookies not only look amazing, they tasted just as great as they looked! Sorry, we have already eaten them all.
